Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine species regulated under quota

This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quotas."


This modification is as follows:


  1.  Effective 12:00AM on Thursday, August 31, 2017, the commercial Tautog fishery will CLOSE. This means that Wednesday, August 30, 2017 is the last day to fish for tautog commercially in this sub period. The next sub-period begins on October 15, 2017 at 10 fish/vessel/calendar day.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/fishwild/mfsizes.htm.
