Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine species regulated under quota


This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quotas."

This modification is as follows:


  1.  Effective 12:00AM on Sunday, November 5, 2017, the commercial Striped Bass Floating Fish Trap fishery will CLOSE, until the fishery re-opens April 1, 2018.
  2.  Effective 12:00AM on Sunday, November 5, 2017, the commercial Striped Bass General Category fishery will OPEN at 5 fish per vessel per day, until further notice.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/fishwild/mfsizes.htm.
