Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine species regulated under quota


This notice is issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 20-1-12.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws entitled "Modification of possession limits and seasons for marine species managed under quotas."

This modification is as follows:


  1.  Effective 12:00AM on Sunday, November 12, 2017, the commercial possession limit for Bluefish will remain at 15,000 pounds per vessel per week, until further notice.
  2.  Effective 12:00AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, the commercial Summer flounder fishery will CLOSE, until the fishery re-opens on January 1, 2018 at 200 pounds per vessel per day.

Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.  Current commercial possession limits can be found by calling (401) 423-1920, or visiting the Marine Fisheries webpage at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/fishwild/mfsizes.htm.
