Please be advised that per Division of Marine Fisheries regulations<https://rules.sos.ri.gov/regulations/part/250-90-00-2>, no application for a commercial fishing license renewal will be accepted from a person who is deficient in the submittal of data reports. Per the regulations, the due dates for the submittal of reports, including reports of no fishing activity, is as follows:

  1. Paper Catch and Effort Harvester and Dockside Sales logbooks:

  * For fishing activity occurring in the months of January, February, and March: Reports due April 15
  * For fishing activity occurring in the months of April, May, and June: Reports due July 15
  * For fishing activity occurring in the months of July, August, and September: Reports due October 15
  * For fishing activity occurring in the months of October, November, and December: Reports due January 15

  1. Electronic reports: Captains enrolled in an electronic logbook program (i.e., SAFIS) shall submit trip reports no later than forty-eight (48) hours after the end of the trip.
  2. Federally Permitted Vessel Operators: A VTR declaration form must be submitted to the Division of Marine Fisheries prior to license renewal.

Reports may only be submitted to the Division of Marine Fisheries office (3 Fort Wetherill Road, Jamestown RI 02835). Reports may be hand delivered, but due to high volume and/or staffing, immediate assistance cannot be assured. Upon receipt, the Division will process reports as expeditiously as possible. To avoid delays in license renewal, reports should be submitted in a timely manner consistent with the regulations<https://rules.sos.ri.gov/regulations/part/250-90-00-2>.

Blank logbook, dockside, VTR declaration forms are available on the Marine Fisheries webpage @ https://dem.ri.gov/natural-resources-bureau/marine-fisheries/forms-permit-applications; more information on electronic reporting can be found @ https://dem.ri.gov/natural-resources-bureau/marine-fisheries/commercial-fishing-dealer-resources/commercial-licensing.

Please contact the Division of Marine Fisheries at 423-1923 with any questions.

Thank you
